Every release surface of the version-metadata contract states the
newest tag: the Chocolatey nuspec and installer (checksum re-pinned to
the released windows-amd64 archive), the Scoop manifest (both Windows
archive hashes), the Homebrew formula (all four archive hashes; Linux
installs the static -portable builds), the Go installer, the Nix flake,
server.json, and the npm and PyPI wrappers. Every hash is taken from the
release's checksums.txt.

Every packaging surface states the newest v-prefixed tag, as the

(checksum re-pinned to the released windows-amd64 archive), the Go

Maintainer edit on top of the rebase. The pin read 0.9.0, which was already
stale when the PR was opened and is two releases behind now. Kept as its own
commit so the contributor's change stays exactly what he wrote.
Recorded rather than fixed here: this pin is hand-maintained and will rot
again on the next release — the same failure mode as the published language
count. Deriving it from one source belongs with that work, not in a Nix PR.

Fixes#1088
The flake only built the standard `cbm` target, so `nix run`/`nix shell`
produced a binary without the embedded UI — `--ui=true` refused to start
the HTTP server. Add two flake outputs:
- `graph-ui`: the React frontend built via buildNpmPackage (offline, from
the pinned package-lock.json; npmDepsHash tracks the lockfile)
- `codebase-memory-mcp-ui`: the server with those assets embedded, built
by dropping the prebuilt dist/ into place and running the embed + link
path inside the sandbox (no network access)
Also fold in adjacent Nix cleanups: bump default.version 0.6.0 -> 0.9.0
to match the release, refresh flake.lock (nixpkgs 2026-04 -> 2026-07),
ignore ./result build symlinks, and document both packages in the README.

`nix develop .#cross` on macOS exposes the OTHER darwin architecture's
zlib, so `scripts/build.sh --arch <target>` can link an x86_64 binary on
Apple Silicon and vice versa. The native clang already cross-emits object
code via -arch; zlib is the product's single link-time dependency, and the
host-arch copy cannot satisfy a cross link, which is the whole gap.
Darwin-gated and opt-in: the attribute set is empty on Linux, the default
shell is untouched, flake.lock is unchanged and no new flake input is
introduced. The shell deliberately does not use inputsFrom, since that
would put the host-arch zlib back on the link path.
Distilled from #724 by Kris Williams. That version also wired libgit2 via
pkg-config, which is now dead weight: libgit2 was removed project-wide for
GPL-licensing reasons and appears nowhere in the tree, so both it and
pkg-config are dropped here — leaving zlib as the only library the cross
shell needs to place.
Validated by parsing the flake with nix-instantiate in a nixos/nix
container (no Nix toolchain on the maintainer host), which also confirms
the shellHook's ''${...} escaping resolves to literal shell expansions.
Evaluating or entering the shell needs a macOS host with Nix; no CI leg
exercises it, as noted on the original PR.
Addresses #705.

libgit2 is licensed GPLv2-with-linking-exception, and this project is
deliberately GPL-free (see scripts/license-policy.json). libgit2 was only
an OPTIONAL, faster git-history code path guarded by HAVE_LIBGIT2 and
auto-detected via pkg-config; it always shipped with a popen("git log ...")
fallback that release binaries already used (they were built without
libgit2). Making that popen fallback the SOLE git-history implementation
means there is NO change to shipped behavior.
Changes:
- pass_githistory.c: collapse the HAVE_LIBGIT2 #ifdef so only the popen
parse_git_log remains; drop the now-unused <git2.h>/<time.h> includes.
- cbm.c / cbm.h / main.c / subprocess.c / index_supervisor.h: remove the
libgit2 mimalloc allocator bind and its >=1.7.0 version guards; keep the
tree-sitter + sqlite3 binds; correct the comments.
- Makefile.cbm: remove the optional-libgit2 pkg-config detection block,
the REQUIRE_LIBGIT2 error gate, and all LIBGIT2 CFLAGS/LIBS/FLAGS.
- .github/workflows/_test.yml: drop the REQUIRE_LIBGIT2 test-matrix leg
plus its libgit2-dev/pkg-config apt install (lower CI cost, no new
gating, no trigger change).
- flake.nix: drop libgit2/pkg-config from the dev shell (now-dead dep).
HAVE_LIBGIT2 no longer exists anywhere in the tree.

Adds flake.nix and flake.lock for Nix users.
- Inputs: NixOS/nixpkgs nixpkgs-unstable, pinned by commit + narHash for supply-chain integrity
- Targets: aarch64/x86_64 × darwin/linux
- buildPhase calls Makefile.cbm cbm directly because scripts/build.sh's `file`-based compiler detection fails on Nix (cc is a wrapper script there); Nix stdenv already guarantees the correct compiler + target arch
- Dev shell adds pkg-config + libgit2 so the optional libgit2 acceleration in pass_githistory.c is picked up via pkg-config
Opt-in: non-Nix users see no behaviour change. flake.nix and flake.lock are inert unless `nix build` or `nix develop` is invoked.
