v0.12.0 could not be installed through npm, pnpm, pip or the Go wrapper on
any platform (#2657): each wrapper refused an archive member above 256 MiB,
and every v0.12.0 binary is 331-335 MB. The v0.11.0 binaries were already
about 300 MB, so the Go wrapper, which has had the cap since v0.10.0, was
broken before; npm and PyPI gained it in v0.12.0. The archive is verified
against the release's checksums.txt before it is unpacked, so a byte cap
only ever refused what we ship.
- npm, PyPI, Go: delete every byte-size cap (compressed archive, per member,
aggregate, checksum manifest, download size). The checksum, the exact
member set, path and link refusal, the member count, HTTPS and the
--version check stay.
- All three honour CBM_DOWNLOAD_URL like install.sh, for testing: https, or
plain http to an exact loopback authority with no proxy and no redirect.
- Smoke: scripts/smoke-wrappers.sh installs the three wrappers from the
checkout against the release fixture and runs the binary each one
installed. smoke-test.sh Phase 13w runs it; SMOKE_REQUIRE_WRAPPERS=1 makes
it required on the PR smoke lanes and in the release smoke, which gates
publishing.
Other install paths found broken while checking every channel:
- Homebrew: the formula was still at 0.10.3 and installed the dynamic Linux
build, which needs glibc 2.38 (Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 and RHEL 9 lack it).
It now installs 0.12.0 with the static -portable Linux assets and tracks
the newest release in the version contract like the other surfaces.
- Go: `go install .../pkg/go/cmd/codebase-memory-mcp@vX.Y.Z` never worked
(no pkg/go/v* tags, so Go fetched the whole repository, over its 500 MB
module limit), and @latest built main's wrapper, whose version constant
lags each release. The release now also tags pkg/go/vX.Y.Z, and the
wrapper installs its own module version (the constant only for local and
untagged builds).
- npm: a stable release also moves the `next` dist-tag to itself; `next`
still pointed to 0.9.1-rc.1.
- Docs: winget and Chocolatey were listed as install channels but are not
published; they are removed until they are. Windows arm64 ships and is
now listed.

Chialisp (.clsp/.clib/.clinc) is the Chia smart-coin language. The only
public grammar, Quexington/tree-sitter-chialisp, cannot parse it: on the five
reference files from chia-blockchain@main it produced 3-34 ERROR nodes each.
Three defects account for all of them, and each desynchronised the rest of the
file rather than losing one node:
* comments were `/;.*\r\n/` -- CRLF-only, while real files are LF;
* `(include foo.clib)` was rejected because of the dot in the filename;
* `(defconstant NAME <expr>)` accepted only a primitive after the name.
So the grammar is written here instead, in tools/tree-sitter-chialisp/, and
files as first-party: its vendored LICENSE is the project's own, byte-identical
to the repository root, carrying no third-party copyright.
It is deliberately GENERIC -- source_file / list / symbol / string / number /
hex / dot / comment, modelling the clvm_tools reader rather than the Chialisp
form vocabulary. `mod`, `defun`, `defconstant` and `include` are ordinary head
symbols; which lists are definitions is decided in extract_defs.c. A dialect
that adds a form (cl-21 -> cl-23 -> cl-26 each added several) therefore needs
no regenerated parser. Acceptance: all five reference files parse with zero
ERROR and zero MISSING nodes; the three defects above are pinned as tests.
Extraction, and the four decisions in it:
* `Constant` is admitted to the cross-file name registry
(cbm_label_is_registry_symbol). Chialisp's condition codes live as
`(defconstant ...)` in a shared .clib and are referenced by name from every
puzzle; labelled but unregistered they are seeded nowhere, and roughly half
of a Chialisp graph would be present as nodes yet never the target of an
edge. All three registry-seeding sites route through that one predicate, so
they cannot diverge. No other language emits `Constant`, so the blast radius
is exactly Chialisp. Pinned by a two-file graph test that goes red when the
label is removed from the predicate.
* `export` / `namespace` are NOT definition heads. `(export foo)` names a
function already defined in the same file, so treating it as a def head
mints a second node for one symbol. They stay in the not-a-call filter.
* A parameter list is a `list` too, but it binds rather than invokes. Without
that gate `(defun check_conditions (HEIGHTLOCK conditions) ...)` mints a
phantom call to HEIGHTLOCK, and real Chialisp is mostly such definitions.
* `(include *standard-cl-26*)` is a dialect directive, not a file dependency;
recording it would invent a dependency on a file that does not exist.
Three helpers that the defs, calls and unified walks all need -- the quote-data
gate, comment-skipping named-child access, and the Chialisp def-head set -- live
in helpers.c rather than being copied per translation unit. They previously
existed as byte-identical duplicates that had already drifted: extract_defs.c
skipped comments when reading a def head while its mirror in extract_unified.c
did not, so a comment between a head and its name desynchronised defs from call
scope. Both now use the same accessor.
Ledger: 161 -> 162 grammars across the seven published surfaces, ABI-14 86 -> 87,
first-party 13 -> 14, CBM_LANG_COUNT 164 -> 165.
Distilled from PR #919 by darkverbito, whose extraction logic -- the CLVM
not-a-call vocabulary, the quoted-data gate, the filename-derived `mod` name and
the include/embed import handling -- is kept and is the substance of this change.
The grammar that PR vendored is not used.

Seven surfaces disagreed with reality and with each other: README.md,
docs/index.html, docs/llms.txt and pkg/npm/README.md said 158, while
server.json, the chocolatey nuspec and scripts/package-release.sh said 159.
161 grammars are vendored.
21 individual claims corrected. The count is now gated by
tests/test_language_count_contract.sh, so the next language to land cannot
ship a stale figure.

Grok Build (xAI's grok CLI/TUI) already reached codebase-memory-mcp through
its Claude/Cursor compat layer, but a Grok-only user got nothing. Detect
$GROK_HOME (default ~/.grok) or a grok CLI and install:
- an owned [mcp_servers.codebase-memory-mcp] managed block in config.toml;
a same-name foreign table is left byte-identical because a second header
would make Grok reject the whole file, while the known owned shape written
by `grok mcp add` is adopted. No env forwarding: grok 1.0.5 passes the
full parent environment to stdio servers (verified), unlike Codex (#1562).
- an owned rules file under $GROK_HOME/rules/ (always scanned, all projects)
- the shared skill under $GROK_HOME/skills/
- Scout/Verify/Auditor agents with named-server mcpInheritance and the tier
allowlist spelled out as the server__tool ids Grok's search_tool/use_tool
dispatcher accepts (inheritance filters per server, never per tool)
- hooks withheld: Grok's passive events discard stdout and PreToolUse honors
only deny/rewrite decisions, so there is no context-output contract.
Verified against grok 1.0.5: inspect discovers the server, agents, skill and
rules; mcp doctor handshakes and discovers 15 tools. --clients=grok token,
README/npm/llms/landing-page matrices (43 -> 44 surfaces), and smoke coverage.

Add omp (Oh My Pi) as a STABLE, detected client surface with full
four-layer integration: MCP server registration, durable instructions,
skill, and three direct-MCP tiered subagent profiles (Scout/Verify/
Auditor). This matches Claude Code's integration depth — omp subagents
have direct MCP access (confirmed via ablation testing), unlike
parent-handoff-only clients (Pochi, Cursor, Rovo, Augment).
Schema (agent_clients.h):
New CBM_AGENT_CLIENT_OMP enum value, positioned before COUNT.
Profile (agent_clients.c):
- stability: CBM_AGENT_STABLE (auto-detected, auto-installed)
- capabilities: MCP | INSTRUCTIONS | SKILL | AGENT
No HOOK — omp's context event is fire-once advisory only; the
recommended upstream path is skill + agents + MCP, not TS hooks.
- detection_command: "omp" (specific enough per existing clients)
- marker: ~/.omp/agent (omp-managed config root)
- resolve_path: ~/.omp/agent/mcp.json
- json_client: true (uses standard mcpServers JSON edit path)
- agent_json_canonical: added to type:"stdio" branch alongside
GitLab Duo and Visual Studio (omp's schema expects this field)
Dialect (agent_profiles.h/.c):
New CBM_GRAPH_DIALECT_OMP, direct-capable (not in handoff-only list).
- tool prefix: "mcp__codebase_memory_mcp_" (single underscore,
hyphens→underscores — verified at runtime via omp device inventory)
- render: YAML frontmatter with tools (read/grep/glob + tier-specific
MCP tool allowlist), read-summarize: false (exact source verification
for evidence tiers — omp's read returns structural summaries by
default), autoloadSkills: [codebase-memory] (subagents start blank)
Install/uninstall (cli.c):
- install_omp_durable_context: writes AGENTS.md + skill +
3 tiered agent profiles to ~/.omp/agent/
- uninstall_omp_durable_context: removes managed block + skill +
tiered profiles
- legacy_omp_verify_agent_content: migration source for prior installs
- Wired into install_agent_client_registry and
uninstall_agent_client_registry loops
Design decisions (documented for reviewers):
1. No HOOK capability: omp's tool_call event can only block/pass (no
augmentation channel like Claude's additionalContext). A context-
event nudge was tested but is advisory-only and excluded from the
upstream path to keep the PR minimal.
2. read-summarize: false: omp's read tool returns structural summaries
by default; Tier 2/3 require exact snippets for material claims.
3. autoloadSkills: omp subagents start with no conversation history;
without autoload the skill decision matrix is never loaded.
4. Direct-capable (not handoff): ablation testing confirmed omp
subagents can call mcp__* tools directly. write→xd:// dispatch
does NOT work in subagents ("xd:// is not mounted in this session").
Test coverage:
- test_agent_clients.c: omp in stable_ids (19 entries), capabilities
array, json_schemas (type:stdio assertion), foreign_entries
- test_agent_profiles.c: omp in direct_dialects array, direct-capable
assertion, dedicated test verifying direct profile has
mcp__codebase_memory_mcp_ prefix + read-summarize + autoloadSkills,
and handoff profile excludes MCP tools
- test_cli.c: required_agents updated to 44, all 43→44 / 37→38 string
contracts updated across README/npm/index.html/llms.txt/main.c
Build: scripts/build.sh passes (exit 0).
Tests: scripts/test.sh passes (exit 0, all suites green).
Lint: scripts/lint.sh has one pre-existing error in pass_lsp_cross.h
(parameter name mismatch imp_keys/imp_vals vs imp_names/imp_qns),
unrelated to this change.

pkg/npm/README.md claimed 159 languages and 14 MCP tools while the root
README says 158 languages and 15 MCP tools. The tool count is verifiably
wrong: the TOOLS[] table in src/mcp/mcp.c has 15 entries. The language
count is aligned to the root README, which states 158 consistently in
five places.
Each stale figure appeared twice; both occurrences of each are fixed, so
the package README no longer contradicts itself or the root README.
Distilled from two PRs that each caught one half: #967 by ketpatil77
(language count) and #1268 by nhtkylc91 (tool count). Neither fixed all
four occurrences, and both touched the same file, so they are combined
here with credit to both.
Note for whoever refreshes these next: 159 grammar directories exist
under internal/cbm/vendored/grammars/, which does not reconcile trivially
with either figure (some languages share a grammar; some enums have no
vendored grammar). This change deliberately does not re-derive the
number, only stops the two READMEs disagreeing.

Five field reports in the 24 hours after v0.10.0 all pointed at the same thing:
gates that were right in principle refused real, ordinary setups, and then
failed to say why. Per the consolidated strictness decision, each gate keeps the
protection that matters and drops the part that was refusing legitimate users —
and every refusal now names what it refused and how to proceed.
**Daemon image gate: npx and every ephemeral install path (#1539, #1383).**
The admission check treated "the peer's image hashes differently" and "the
peer's image cannot be examined at all" as one failure. The second is what
`npx codebase-memory-mcp` always produces (ephemeral cache path,
unfingerprintable), so every npx-invoked client was rejected — and, because the
client never reported it, agents saw a transport that closed mid-handshake with
zero bytes on stdout. Reported by @wassolles with the admission path already
read and the fix space mapped.
An unverifiable image is now admitted: the rendezvous HELLO immediately above it
has already proven semantic version, build fingerprint, and protocol/store/
feature ABI, and the image check was trading that real proof for an unavailable
one. It logs daemon.client_image_unverifiable_admitted so the weaker check is
never invisible. A fingerprint MISMATCH — the tamper case the gate exists for —
still rejects hard. Separate test seams keep the two modes testable apart.
**Client bootstrap failures are no longer silent (#1539).**
An MCP client that cannot reach the daemon now emits a JSON-RPC error on stdout
naming the reason, plus the same text on stderr. Previously the reason sat in
bootstrap_result.message and the process exited having written nothing at all.
**POSIX activation: group-writable ancestors (#1535, discussion #1526).**
activation_directory_secure required no group or other write bit on the install
directory AND every ancestor. WSL2 ships ~ and ~/.local at 0775, as do several
distro skeletons and any site using a shared primary group, so install.sh failed
for a large fraction of Linux users — reporting a policy refusal as "activation
transaction I/O failed", which sent reporters after disk errors and filesystem
types. Root-caused by @AmirF194 in a clean ubuntu container; @shochdoerfer and
@iandol confirmed independently.
World-writable ancestors are still refused (any local user could swap a path
component mid-transaction). Group-writable ancestors are now warned about and
admitted. The LEAF directory stays strictly owner-private — that is where the
binary is published, and group write there would let another account replace the
executable between validation and exec. Refusals now name the directory, its
mode, and which rule refused.
**The obsolete ui/standard chooser (#1538, from discussion #1526).**
v0.10.0 consolidated to one archive per platform with the UI always embedded,
but `update` still offered a variant choice: "ui" could only 404, and "standard"
quietly WAS the UI build. Reported by @iandol upgrading 0.9.0 -> 0.10.0. The
chooser, its --standard/--ui flags, and the ui- URL plumbing are removed, along
with the CBM_VARIANT=ui remnant in the npm installer.
Already-released 0.9.x binaries cannot be fixed retroactively, so the release
workflow now publishes byte-identical ui-*-named alias assets — their updaters
work again with no user action. The aliases are uploaded AFTER the VirusTotal
gate: they are the same bytes as archives it already cleared, and uploading them
earlier would duplicate every object in the scan set and the provenance manifest.
**macOS install noise and attribution (#1537).**
install.sh silenced the "No such xattr: com.apple.quarantine" line, which is
what happens when a curl-downloaded archive carries no quarantine attribute —
harmless, and it became the title of a bug report about an unrelated failure.
The session-stop refusal now points at `daemon status` to list the client
processes actually holding the daemon, instead of asserting sessions exist and
leaving the reader to guess. Reported by @listepo.
**Riders.** hatchling is pinned in pkg/pypi (an unpinned backend resolved fresh
inside `python -m build` is what emitted Metadata-Version 2.5 and broke the
v0.10.1 publish); SECURITY.md's supported-versions table moves to 0.10.x.
Tests: separate seams for unverifiable vs mismatched peer images with a test per
outcome; activation refusal must name directory + mode + rule; a group-writable
ancestor must stage successfully. The update tests drop the flag that no longer
exists. Verified against each reporter's environment shape.
**Open security alerts (all three, OSSF Scorecard).**
- HIGH, binary artifact: an 8.8 MB compiled Go ELF wrapper had been committed at
pkg/go/codebase-memory-mcp by accident. Removed, and both it and its .exe
sibling are gitignored so `go build` in that directory cannot repeat it.
- HIGH, GHSA-2v37-7h3g-55p8: nanoid < 3.3.17 loops forever when a custom
generator is called with size 0. It reaches us transitively (postcss -> vite),
so it is pinned through the existing graph-ui overrides block rather than
promoted to a direct dependency; the lockfile resolves 3.3.18.
- MEDIUM, unpinned pip command: the publish step installed build/twine by
version only, leaving the whole transitive graph resolved at run time.
pkg/pypi/requirements-publish.txt now hash-pins the complete toolchain (316
hashes), generated on a linux/amd64 python:3.12 image so the wheels match what
ubuntu-latest resolves, and the step runs pip with --require-hashes. Verified
by installing from it in that same image.

embeddings, fully local), SEMANTICALLY_RELATED / SIMILAR_TO clone
detection, cross-repo intelligence, data-flow tracing, change-impact
analysis, and ADR management. Broaden the cross-service entry to cover
gRPC/GraphQL/tRPC and pub/sub channels. Add a "star on GitHub" nav CTA.
GEO/SEO: add a question-style semantic-search section, extend the

Correct the language count to 159 (was 155/158) everywhere while keeping
the 157 vendored-grammar figure, update the Linux-kernel index stats to
the measured 4.81M nodes / 7.72M edges, and make trace_path the canonical
tool name (trace_call_path noted as an alias).
New languages added this round: Qt QML (.qml), CFML/ColdFusion (.cfc script +
.cfm tag). Update README, npm README, and chocolatey description to the
accurate distinct-language count (158) and vendored-grammar count (157).
- README badges: languages 66->155, agents 10->11, tests 2586->2812 (actual count from v0.6.1 test run)
- README: VirusTotal table, primary VT badge link, all '66 languages' references, expanded language list with all newly added grammars
- server.json: bump 0.5.5->0.6.1 (was two releases behind), update all download URLs and sha256s
- pkg/scoop, homebrew, aur, chocolatey, winget: bump to 0.6.1 with new sha256s from v0.6.1 checksums.txt
- pkg/winget: new 0.6.1/ manifest directory (winget keeps version history; 0.6.0/ retained)
- pkg/npm/README: language and agent counts
Adds a README.md to pkg/npm so the npmjs.com package page shows
documentation. Updates the files list in package.json to include it.
Will be published with the next version bump.
